Compare the 2016 BMW 3 Series Standard Features to an Acura
When shopping for a new luxury car, Metro Detroit and Michigan area drivers expect certain things, and if you aren’t quite impressed by the 2016 BMW 3 Series standard features, we suggest looking at a competitor. The 2016 Acura TLX is one of the newest sport sedans on the market and is turning heads all over the state. When it comes to features, the TLX has quite an edge over the BMW 320i—it even comes out ahead on price and power as well.
- The basic 2016 Acura TLX 2.4 8-DCT P-AWS is priced at $31,695 (MSRP).*
- The 2016 BMW 320i is noticeably higher at $33,150 (MSRP).
Don’t expect the features to make up for the difference in price, either.
Acura Leads on Amenities
There are expectations that drivers have of luxury sedans, and while the 2016 BMW 3 Series standard features certainly put it ahead of the average Chevrolet or Ford sedan, it has trouble keeping up with a technologically advanced Acura. Each of the following features comes standard on the 2016 Acura TLX but requires an upgrade (or isn’t available at all) on the BMW:
- Steering wheel–mounted paddle shifters
- Memory adjustments for driver mirrors, climate control, seat position, and more
- One-touch power moonroof
- Multi-angle rearview camera
- Universal garage and gate opener
- Power-adjustable front seating
- Heated front seating
- Noise/sound cancellation
- LED headlights
We aren’t quite sure where the price difference comes from between the two models, other than the fact that BMW has a legacy of fitting in with the luxury-priced vehicles. Even the standard powertrain of the TLX offers more:
- 2016 TLX models have a 2.4L 4-cylinder capable of 206 hp.
- The 2016 BMW 320i has a 2.0L 4-cylinder capable of only 180 hp.
