Thrilling and luxurious

2016 TLX

Metro Detroit and Western Michigan drivers know the Acura name as one that delivers luxury and value at the same time, and the 2016 TLX is here to double down on that promise. Built with a thrilling design, a high-performance aesthetic, and the same high level of quality and elegance drivers have come to expect from an Acura, the new TLX takes on all challengers.

Power and traction enhanced

With two engine options and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) available, the 2016 Acura TLX already has an edge over other sport sedans. Choose from the practical yet peppy 4-cylinder or the high-power 290-hp 3.5L V6 and know that whether you have the standard Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) or the SH-AWD system available on the V6, the TLX will work to give you new levels of control—it makes you a pro driver without the training.

  • 2016 Acura TLX 2.4L Engine

    2.4L 4-Cylinder Engine

The base engine for the TLX is far from standard, engineered specifically for its 8-speed dual-clutch transmission to deliver smooth shifting and responsive acceleration. Rated at 206 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque, you’ll enjoy an EPA-estimated 35 highway and 24 city mpg,[1] making any nice day an excuse for a joyride.

    3.5L V6 Engine

For some, a sport sedan isn’t a sport sedan without a V6, and Acura is happy to oblige. The available 3.5L V6 engine brings the power output up to 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque; it also makes SH-AWD available. Whether you choose the front-wheel drive or SH-AWD, the V6 engine is still remarkably efficient.

    Precision All-Wheel Steer

P-AWS is a standard feature of the TLX. The first steering system of its kind, P-AWS is able to adjust the rear toe angles individually for improved maneuverability and cornering capabilities. It’s almost as if Acura engineers had track performance in mind when building the TLX.

    Agile Handling Assist

Agile Handling Assist uses the Vehicle Stability Assist safety feature of the TLX proactively, helping brake individual wheels to deliver a more responsive performance and produce a more agile sport sedan. Like with Precision All-Wheel Steer, Agile Handling Assist gives you the tools to get the most out of your car.

  • 2016 Acura TLX Performance Braking

    Performance Braking

A performance car deserves performance brakes, even if you’d rather be cruising than coming to a stop. The TLX features precision brake modulation for a more responsive braking system. Rear solid disc brakes and front ventilated disc brakes combine to help bring you to a stop and quickly dissipate heat.

    Smooth and Quiet

When designing the TLX, it was important for it to be more than just a car. Every element of the vehicle, including the brakes, suspension, and body structure, has been engineered for smooth, quiet performance. You’ll hear the roar of the engine when it’s called for, and not much else.

Athletic and energetic

Is a sport sedan still a sport sedan if it’s not leaving people gasping in surprise and awe as you race through Metro Detroit? We think it’s just as important that the 2016 Acura TLX look as impressive as it performs, and the exterior delivers thanks to days of wind tunnel testing and unique features like Acura’s exclusive Jewel Eye LED headlights. Acura finds a way to tuck a rear camera and other convenience features in, out of sight but there when you need them, too.

    Jewel Eye LED Headlights

Five LEDs in each headlight reflect their light off of the jewel-like reflectors to deliver a white and brighter beam than traditional bulbs. And when the lights aren’t on, the reflectors can catch the sunlight and give the TLX that distinctive glimmer on the front end.

    Multi-View Rear Camera

Whenever you shift into reverse, the TLX brings up a view of what’s behind the car on your in-dash LCD screen. With just the push of a button, you can switch between standard, top-down, and wide-angle views to make sure you are all clear before letting off the brake.

    Keyless Access System

The TLX is as technologically smart as it is good looking, and it can tell when you are nearby, unlocking the doors for you and welcoming you into the driver’s seat with your regular settings for seat position, mirror, and climate control. Then just press “start” and head on your way; your keys don’t ever have to leave your pocket or purse.

Serene and spacious

One of the best signs of a true luxury sedan is that it has you wanting to just sit behind the wheel and relax when you have nowhere to go. Amenities like Active Sound Control and acoustic glass help ensure your cabin is peaceful, letting you focus on conversation or your driving soundtrack. Standards like heated front seats and premium upholstery help you stay comfortable no matter the weather, too.

    Front Seating

By fusing the comfort of a luxury car and the support of a sport sedan, Acura has designed seating that is fit for everyday driving or racing through curves. Side bolsters keep you in place while heated front seats keep you warm during Michigan winters. Available front seat ventilation makes short work of the summer, too.

  • 2016 Acura TLX Rear Seating

    Rear Seating

Many sport sedans barely have room for two passengers in the rear seat, but the 2016 Acura TLX owns its status as both a sport sedan and a mid-size car. You can comfortably fit up to three adults in the rear seat, which leaves plenty of space for kids who need their own area. The standard 60/40 split folding rear seats let you accommodate large cargo in the trunk when needed, too.

    ELS Premium Audio

For most drivers, their soundtrack is one of the most important parts of their drive. Acura partnered with Elliot Scheiner, Grammy award-winning sound engineer, to develop their ELS Premium Audio system. With 10 speakers, you might find yourself preferring the sound of music in your car to your home stereo.

  • 2016 Acura TLX Dashboard

Some modern sedans look like they took their old dashboards and simply attached a touchscreen to the front of them, but the TLX has been designed to integrate technology into the whole dashboard and give the vehicle a smooth, finished look. Instead of the cluttered but functional buttons of many competing cars, this Acura has a touchscreen that responds to your needs, putting the controls you need directly within reach of the driver.

  • 2016 Acura TLX ODMD

    On-Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD)

The On-Demand Multi-Use Display replaces the buttons you would need to control your stereo, MP3 player, Bluetooth settings, and other technology with a convenient touchscreen that alters its function to the features you need. Trade the dozens of knobs of competing sedans for one simple, sleek screen.

    SMS/Email/Siri Eyes Free

It can be tough to sever the connection to our phones, but texting behind the wheel is unsafe and often illegal. The TLX helps bridge the gap with standard SMS and email integration. Drivers with iPhones will appreciate the convenience of Siri Eyes Free for points of interest and directions, as well.

Keeping you safe

Acura vehicles have earned reputations for luxury, value, technology, fuel efficiency, and performance, and while the TLX lives up to them all, the first priority in its design was safety. Standard safety features like the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, three-point seat belts, and array of airbags pair with available advanced features that can help alert you to potential accidents before they happen.

    Lane Keeping Assist

We think this is one backseat driver you will be happy to have in your car. The Lane Keeping Assist system uses a front-end camera to detect the markings on the pavement and sends you an alert to bring your focus back to the road if it senses you drifting from your lane without signaling.

  • 2016 TLX Adaptive Cruise Control

    Adaptive Cruise Control

Cruise control used to have one downside: You had to regularly adjust your speed with the cars around you. Adaptive Cruise Control lets the TLX keep track of the speeds of vehicles around you and adjusts accordingly, making for safer cruising.

  • Acura Blindspot Information System

    Blind Spot Information System

Radar in the available Blind Spot Information System is able to detect when vehicles are in your “alert zones” or blind spots. When a vehicle is there, an indicator lights up on your front pillar. If you signal to change lanes while a vehicle is there, the indicator will flash and the TLX will alert you that you could be merging into a car.

  • 2016 Acura TLX Child Safety

    Child Safety

With plenty of room for the kids, it’s important to be able to secure their safety seats properly. The TLX features LATCH-compliant safety seat anchors that let you snap a safety seat into place in seconds. The same anchor system is used in the majority of child seats, letting you have a familiar anchor as your child grows.

  • 2016 TLX Collision Mitigation System

    Collision Mitigation Braking

With a combination of a front-end camera and radar, the Collision Mitigation Braking System is able to detect when a collision could occur and alert you to the danger. If you do not act on the alert, it can even apply the brakes for you to slow down and maybe even avoid an accident.

  • 2016 TLX Road Departure Mitigation

    Road Departure Mitigation

Like with the Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation makes sure you only leave the road when you want to by tracking markings on the side of the road and other objects. If it detects that you’re heading onto the shoulder or into the grass, it will alert you on the dash or HUD.
